What are the best walking shoes for women over 30? I need to upgrade my walking shoes because mine are starting to hurt my feet. In your opinion what are the best brands for walking shoes for women over 30? (Please include a price range if you know it). Thanks.

Why do most shoes for women have a heel that is raised? My girlfriend and I were looking for shoes one day that she could wear to work and were having a hard time finding ones without heels because they aren't good for her back. Couldn't find anything suitable! I can't believe women wear these uncomfortable things.

High heels actually do a fair amount of damage to feet,legs and backs. That would be why doctors of podiatry (foot doctors) and orthopedic surgeons don't like them. They can also shorten the achilles tendon and high heels force women to walk with a gait that is not natural. If women limit the height and time spent in high heels it helps keep damage down. Flat heeled shoes that look good and comfortable are hard to find. Many more choices can be found online. Having said that I think heels are sexy as hell on women and I with I could wear them but I have bad feet."

Are there any shoes for women that are dressy and good for walking? My mother works in the retail business. She stays on her feet as well as walks alot. Recently, she has complained her feet get sore. I believe it is due to the poorly constructed shoe that gives little or no support. What are the best running shoes for women? I was looking for some running shoes but the only kind of shoes I ever get are adidas or nikes. I have been noticing more that they really make my feet hurt. I was wondering about the saucony or acics'. Has anyone tried them and are they better than the other ones?

Neann R replied: "I'm former AF and we did a lot of running. I was having trouble with finding a good pair of running shoes as well. It depends on the shape of your foot; you'll want to do some research, some stores can offer insight as to what type of running shoe will be best for your foot; everyone's feet are different and you will need some support in certain areas more than others. Asics is often the most recommended brand of running shoe (from my experience). But I do recommend researching. What are your feet shaped like, and what areas do you feel you need the support? For example, if you have a high arch or a flat foot. Like I said, an experienced salesperson will be able to guide you on this. Good luck."

Makes me feel like I can fly. :) Most people have the "neutral" feet but if you don't know what type of foot you have, visit your local running room and they have experts there who can help you choose the best one for you. They let you try on the shoes and run around in them. I've never worn the Asics or Brooks but I'm Saucony's all the way. -elaine"

If you are concerned about weather or not you can pull of the look - try pairing them with jeans or long (wide leg) capris - this will offset the width of your ankles giving you a slimmer look. In addition - wedges are always great - they don't have to be uber high off the ground - I bought a pair of Maroon Peep-toe with a plastic-like "wedge" from a shoe store about a year ago and they are incredibly comfortable. BCBG - Nordstrom - Nine West are all great places to check. If you REALLY want to spend the money - Cole Hahn has shoes that have the Nike Air cushions in them and they come in the many different stylish styles. Good Luck!!"

Try the ones made by sporty brands. I just got one from Asics. And since its almost like sneakers, try to get them in a flashy color or metallics. Try to stay away from Keds if you're not 40 yet. They tend to make your outfit very blah. Try the ballet flats at Topshop, some of my friends like em, but I personally got a pair from Tangs for SGD17.90! Its just a simple silver pair that has rubber sole, great for walking! But if I have to bring 1 pair only, it'll be a wedge. Its comfortable, its chic, matches skirt and pants and gives my entire feet enough support that my arc doesnt hurt."
